Prof. Dr. Çağatay Çağlar has practised ophthalmology for more than twenty years, with a subspecialty focus on retina, macula and vitreoretinal surgery. He is a Professor and Head of the Department of Ophthalmology at Maltepe University in Istanbul.

Alongside clinical practice, he has taught medical students and developed ophthalmology services, including a university retina clinic and vitreoretinal surgery unit. His academic work includes research and editorial responsibilities.

For international patients, the consultation reviews available reports, discusses the examination and gives time for questions about the proposed care and follow-up.

    With Prof. Dr. Bartz-Schmidt, on intravitreal injections for macular disease and diabetic retinopathy.

  4. 2012-2013

    Melbourne, Australia

    University of Melbourne, Australia

    Observer at Royal Victorian Eye & Ear Hospital: keratoplasty and oculoplastics.

  5. 2013

    Assistant Professor

    Appointed at Hitit University; founding role in the Ophthalmology department.

  6. 2014

    Founded the Retina Clinic

    Performed the university hospital's first intravitreal injection treatment.

  7. 2016

    Vitreoretinal surgery unit

    Established the unit and introduced vitreoretinal surgery in Çorum.

  8. 2017

    Associate Professor and FEBO

    European Board of Ophthalmology

    Awarded the title of Doçent and passed the European Board exam.

  9. 2019

    Founded the faculty journal

    Established the Hitit University Faculty of Medicine journal and served as editor-in-chief; secured residency-training accreditation.

  10. 2022

    Joined Maltepe University

    Department of Ophthalmology, Faculty of Medicine.

  11. 2023

    Professor

    Awarded the title of Professor; currently Head of the Department of Ophthalmology.
