General questions

Can I communicate in English?

Yes. English-speaking coordination is available for the planning process and appointments, with translator support where needed.

Is it safe to have surgery abroad?

Every procedure has considerations and suitability must be assessed individually. Ask the clinical team about your specific situation before deciding to travel.

What can be included in the visit plan?

Depending on your needs, the plan can include clinical coordination, airport transfer, accommodation support and translation arrangements.

Pricing

Is the starting price a quote for my treatment?

No. It is a starting point rather than a quote. The clinical team confirms whether treatment is appropriate and explains the individual plan before any procedure is arranged.

What happens if a second procedure is needed?

A second procedure is not included in the starting price. The clinical team explains why it may be needed, what it would involve and the arrangements before anything further is planned.

Can flights be arranged as part of the visit?

Flights are not included in the package. Your coordinator can discuss the appointment sequence and arrival timing so you can arrange travel that suits your plan.

Travel planning

How do I plan travel for my visit?

Before you fly, a coordinator typically confirms the appointment sequence, reviews the records needed for the visit and shares a written outline. On arrival, a transfer is typically arranged to take you from the airport to your accommodation or first appointment, depending on your arrival time.

What happens if the assessment finds that treatment is not suitable?

The team explains what the assessment found and whether treatment in İstanbul is likely to be useful in your case. If it is not, no treatment appointment is arranged.

How long should I stay in Turkey?

For lens surgery, a visit of about three days is typical so the assessment, procedure and early check can happen in sequence. Your own plan may be shorter or longer depending on the treatment and the clinical review before travel.

Can a companion attend appointments with me?

A companion can usually travel with you and attend appointments where the clinical team considers it appropriate. Your coordinator can explain the arrangements for your visit.

Aftercare

How does follow-up work from home?

A typical plan includes a check with your local ophthalmologist about one week after you return, a remote review with the coordination team at around four weeks, and another clinical check near three months when needed. Your local ophthalmologist performs the in-person examinations, while the coordination team gathers the reports and keeps the treating team informed.

What happens if a follow-up finding needs another procedure?

The local ophthalmologist, coordination team and treating team review the information together. They then discuss the appropriate next conversation and whether another visit to İstanbul should be considered.

How does my own ophthalmologist receive information from the visit?

You take home written records from the visit, and the coordination team can help share the relevant reports with your own ophthalmologist when needed.
